Carbon Culture Review

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

BOOKS

In 2018 we opened our new imprint Carbon Books and we're very pleased to have found our first book, Caleb Michael Sarvis' "Dead Aquarium."  We're thrilled with the response we got and  will continue selecting 1-2 books a year for publication.  We're open for submissions and looking for titles for 2019/2020.  We are looking for poetry, novels, short fiction, memoir and experimental full length books on any subject, in any genre. We aim to be unorthodox and publish according to what we like and not preconceived parameters. New and established writers are encouraged to submit. Authors will receive a standard royalty based contract, a book launch marketing campaign valued at $500, numerous review copies mailed to magazines and journals, and receive ten or more copies of the finished book.

MAGAZINE

We are in the process of revamping our magazine to be able to pay writers and create buzz around work. We'll be using social media and the online publication model as well as print, in some form. You'll hear more from us in the coming months as we work on relaunching. Thanks for your consideration and for supporting Carbon!

NOTE

We pride ourselves on our thorough editorial process, so book submissions typically receive responses within 6-9 months.

We strive to respond to all magazine submissions quickly--between 8-12 weeks. However, response times can vary, especially during our fee-free months, summer and the holiday season. All submissions are considered for our annual newsstand print edition and online editions.

PAYMENT

We pay contributors to Carbon Culture two copies of the issue in which their work appears. We also consider work published in CCR for nomination to various prizes, such as the Pushcart Prize, Best New Poets, PEN/O'Henry Prize, Best American Short Stories, Best American Essays, Best American Non-required Reading, Best American Poetry, and Verse Daily.
